Here are a couple of local favorites:
Haarum: A great all-round spot suitable for both beginners and more advanced kitesurfers. Easy access and good conditions make it a popular choice.
Ferring Lake (Ferring Sø): Located near Vejlby Klit and Bovbjerg, this is a beautiful and flat water spot. Best conditions: SW, S, and SE wind.
Good to know:
- Parking is available north of the lake (about 500 m west of the abandoned village Strande)
- Some areas are shallow near the shore
- The middle of the lake is deep
- Be aware of occasional fishing nets
⚠️ Safety First
There are no lifeguards at these spots.
👉 You are responsible for your own safety and decisions on the water – always check conditions and know your limits.
🌬️ Wind & Wing Surfing
Most kitesurf spots also work well for wind and wing surfing.
A top recommendation:
- Lemvig Strand Camping – great depth and beginner-friendly conditions
Just remember: fins are longer, so make sure there’s enough water depth.
🏄♀️ SUP (Stand-Up Paddle)
If you’re looking for something calmer, SUP is perfect here.
Best areas:
- Around Lemvig Skatepark
- Lemvig Strand Camping / Ferie Center
- Gjellerodde
The fjord often offers beautiful, calm conditions, even on windy days.
🌊 Wave Surfing
Looking for waves?
- Høfde Q (Fjaltring) – one of the most popular surf spots in the area
- Thyborøn – park at Naturrum (behind Sneglehuset), walk ~300 m south to reach the break
